Conclusion of Avian Influenza Diagnosis Workshop
A training workshop on "Avian Influenza Diagnosis Workshop" was concluded at Jordan University of Science and Technology Workshop. The workshop was organized by Princess Haya Biotechnology Center in collaboration with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at JUST, Colorado State University and CRDF Global with participants from major avian research and diagnostic centers in Egypt, Morocco, Algeria and Jordan.
The workshop discussed various topics including methods used in the diagnosis of avian influenza, biosafety, virus isolation, sample collection and quality management methods. The workshop included practical sessions for the different methods discussed. In addition, the participants presented results and case studies from their home countries.
For their part, the participants were impressed by the high caliber of the lecturers at the workshop and the capabilities of the BioRisk Management and Genomics Training Divisions. The participants commended the efforts made by the director of PHBC and his staff before and during the workshop.
The new training center was opened in February of last year and hosted more than twenty different training workshops for participants from the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.
