The MENA Genomics Training Division was established to operate a sustained genomics training and research center that employs high standards in operations, safety and security, and research and development, to serve the societal needs of Jordan and its Middle Eastern and North African neighbors and to reduce threat to the global community. The MENA Genomics Training Division has identified the following strategic objectives: Provide a robust foundation in genomic science, through didactic and practical instruction, to the next generation of MENA life scientists and public health practitioners.Provide the required technical infrastructure for genomics training and research by bringing state of the art molecular diagnostics and next generation sequencing capability to the MENA region, functioning as the regional technical hub.Enable the application of genomics science to the myriad of public health, medicine, agricultural and industrial demands, and to the emerging biological threat challenges facing Jordan and the Middle East.Integrate safe and secure life science practices, and exercise Biorisk management training. Function as one technical platform in modern life sceince to strengthen the partnerships among Jordan, MENA countries and various collaborators worldwide. The core Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Lab equipped with MiSeq Desktop Sequencer and bioinformatics facility.
