Since its establishment, the Faculty of Agriculture at JUST has committed itself to serve its community in every way possible. Many of the activities carried out by faculty members and staff are intended to serve the local community and to provide knowledge and expertise to our agricultural and rural communities in Jordan.
During the last two decades, the Faculty has conducted field days, workshops, exhibitions and short training courses in many agricultural topics including but not limited to:
Cultivar releases of different agronomic and horticultural crops, soil preservation and management, water resources management, irrigation techniques, management and reuse of wastewater, pest management, rangeland preservation and management, forests establishment and management, cultivation of mushrooms, cultivation of new and specialty crops, farm animals (poultry, sheep and cow) management and health, food processing, food safety and nutrition.
Faculty members provide consultations in different areas of farming to individuals and organizations. These consultations are mostly performed free of charge or for a nominal fee.
Faculty members serve in many committees at the country level, providing input and participating in decision-making in relation to many governmental and non-profit organizations that deal with agriculture and food industry in Jordan and the Middle East.
The Faculty collaborates with international organizations and is engaged in applied research and extension programs that aim at improving the agricultural sector as well as management of natural resources.
