The Center for Sustainable Development Studies and Technology (CSDST) at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) organized a training workshop in the Al-Ramtha district on Sunday, September 3, 2023. This workshop was held at the Youth Without Borders Association and targeted individuals active in the local community.
The workshop was titled "Principles in Social Accountability and Public Participation and Their Applications in the Health Sector" and was part of the first phase of the project "The Developing of Efficient Social Accountability Strategies for Better Health Outcomes within Jordan. This project is part of a larger initiative #NAZAHA "EU Support to social accountability and Civil Society empowerment for better governance", co-funded by the European Union in Jordan and AECID Jordan through the donor Life Center-Rased.
Dr. Ammar Almaaytah, the Director of the Center for Sustainable Development Studies and Technology at the University, expressed his gratitude to the workshop participants, the organizers at the Youth Without Borders Association, and the partners at the Life Center - Observant, as well as the donors, the European Unionin Jordan, and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. He emphasized that this workshop reflects the role played by the Jordan University of Science and Technology in its societal responsibility and represents a collaborative effort between institutions and national entities, whether public or private. He also noted that this collaboration forms a fundamental basis for the success and development of developmental policies for any society.
Dr. Almaaytah also stressed the importance of raising community awareness regarding the topic of community accountability and its fundamental and effective role in enhancing the roles of various segments of society. He pointed out that this would contribute to improving the standard of living for individuals and enhancing the services provided to them.
At the end of the training workshop, Mr. Ahmed Al-Khaza'leh, the President of Greater Al-Ramtha Municipality, who presented certificates to the participants, stated that such activities work to increase individuals' awareness of their community rights and responsibilities, improve the services provided, develop individual skills, and benefit the local and national community.
