As part of the activities of the ELEGANT project, the Center of Excellence for Innovative Projects (CEIP) at Jordan University Science and Technology (JUST) - Jordan organized a webinar entitled " How to enhance CIT Fresh Graduates Employment Opportunities from Academic and Industry Point of View?" on December 11, 2020.

The seminar aimed at enhancing the employment opportunities for IT graduates in Jordan. Mr. Samer Suleiman, project liaison officer at JUST, welcomed the participants, including academics, industry professionals, alumni, and pre-graduated students.

prof. Iraj Hashi from Steering Committee of the ELEGANT Project provided an overview of the ELEGANT project shedding light on its main objectives and importance to all stockholders: students, academic institutions, and enterprises.

The webinar discussed the employment issue from an academic point of view, emphasizing curriculum development, program accreditations efforts, internships, and connection to industrial programs.

Moreover, the issue was discussed from an industrial perspective highlighting the value of students' individual skills and the role innovation and critical thinking play in increasing employment opportunities. The webinar has also encouraged students to employ the scientific knowledge they gained from academic institutions in developing freelance jobs or building their own startups.

JUST graduates shared their academic and professional experience emphasizing the importance of self-development skills like competitive programming, cybersecurity, teamwork, research-based projects, analytical skills, etc., in the highly competitive IT markets.

The webinar was concluded with a brainstorming activity through which the participants discussed the presented ideas and suggested ways that may help solve the employment issues soon.
