Jordan University of Science and Technology welcomes a delegation from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation to discuss strengthening cooperation and achieving a shared vision in water resources management.
In a continued effort to strengthen international partnerships and foster innovation in water resource management, Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) welcomed a high-level delegation from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) on Tuesday, June 27, 2025. The visit included a meeting with JUST Vice President Professor Ahmad Al-Ajlouni, marking a significant step toward deepening collaboration and advancing a shared vision for sustainable water governance in the region.
The delegation included Ms. Nathalie Sémoroz, Deputy Head of the Division of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and Mr. Mufleh Al-Alaween, Water Cooperation Advisor at the Embassy of Switzerland to Jordan. The meeting was attended by Professor Mutawakil Obeidat, Director of the Water Diplomacy Center, and Professor Mohammed Alazzam, Projects Director of the Blue Peace Middle East Capacity Development project.
During the meeting, Professor Al-Ajlouni emphasized the university's commitment—under the direct support of its President, Professor Khaled Alsalem—to strengthening the partnership with the Swiss Agency and enhancing the role of the Water Diplomacy Center as a distinguished regional hub for scientific research and international cooperation in the water sector. He also emphasized the significance of this partnership in addressing regional and global water-related challenges through innovative research and capacity-building initiatives.
For their part, the Swiss Agency delegation commended the university's pioneering efforts in advancing education and scientific research in water resource management and praised the leading role played by the Water Diplomacy Center in supporting sustainable development and promoting regional and international cooperation.
