The Department of English Language and Linguistics is home to one of the largest and most vibrant programs at JUST. The Department has remarkably evolved from an English language service unit within the Department of Humanities in 1986 to a degree-granting Department of English for Specific Purposes in 1996. The Department changed in 2011 to become the Department of English Language and Linguistics to cope with the most recent advancements in the field of Linguistics. The Department now comprises 14 Ph.D holders supported by 3 lecturers. The Department boasts more than 800 undergraduate and more than 100 student in its graduate program.
