The program is designed to enable students, upon graduation, to:
A. Accurately and precisely use English and communicate– both in speaking and writing – in a variety of contexts and genres, and demonstrate a thorough command of the language and its linguistic structures |
B. understand the structure of the English language (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and discourse). |
C. demonstrate an understanding of language variation and cross-linguistic differences. |
D. Produce and edit high quality, technical oral and written English communication and translation from English into Arabic and vice versa. |
E. Apply theoretical frameworks for second language teaching, linguistic analysis, and communication theory. |
F. Have knowledge of first and second language development and the development of bilingualism/multilingualism. |
G. Be skillful in a wide range of instructional materials, approaches, and methods for learners at different stages of development and from differing cultural and linguistic backgrounds. |
