The Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences at Jordan University of Science and Technology, established in 2000, is relatively new but is rapidly evolving. The faculty currently offers nine distinguished academic programs: Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Radiologic Technology, Emergency Medical Services, Dental Technology, Dental Hygiene, and Audiology and Speech Therapy.
What distinguishes the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences in the region and the Arab world is its establishment of the Emergency Medical Services and Dental Hygiene programs. The Emergency Medical Services program equips graduates with the skills to manage emergencies effectively and provide on-site healthcare services with a high level of professionalism. Similarly, graduates from the Dental Hygiene program assist dentists in clinics, enhancing patient care while delivering dental health education and awareness programs to school and university students as well as the broader community.
The faculty also offers several graduate programs, including Molecular Diagnostics and Human Genetics, Hematology and Blood Banking, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, and Medical Immunology. Starting in the 2016/2017 academic year, the faculty will introduce a graduate program in Physical Therapy, with plans for additional graduate programs in various specializations in the coming years. Most of the academic programs have achieved internal accreditation and are actively pursuing accreditation from various international educational and academic institutions.
The faculty is committed to providing Jordan and the region with high-quality graduates who meet international standards, positively impacting the future of healthcare and society. In the 2013/2014 academic year, new academic plans were implemented across all programs to align with the latest developments and modern knowledge, enhancing the practical and research skills of graduates. The faculty has partnered with numerous hospitals to facilitate hands-on training for students in various clinical skills. Notable partner hospitals include Princess Basma Hospital, Princess Rahma Hospital, Prince Hamzah Hospital, King Abdullah University Hospital, and Prince Hashim Military Hospital. Additionally, the faculty regularly organizes medical and scientific days throughout the academic year to provide students with practical experience and engage with the local community.
Comprising over 60 highly qualified faculty members, the faculty specializes in their respective fields and actively participates in teaching and training students. Training workshops are conducted for faculty members to implement the latest educational methodologies in academic plans. The faculty reflects significant diversity, with over 3,000 students from more than 40 different nationalities across Asia, Africa, and Europe, and offers academic exchange programs for both students and faculty members.
