The Postmortem Section at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) of the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) is dedicated to conducting comprehensive necropsy examinations for a wide range of animal species, including small and large animals.
This section plays a vital role in determining the cause of death, investigating disease outbreaks, and supporting clinical case evaluations through detailed gross and histopathological analyses.
Our facilities include specialized necropsy rooms, refrigeration and carcass storage units, and all necessary instruments for sample collection and tissue processing, while strictly adhering to biosafety, hygiene, and biosecurity protocols to protect personnel and prevent disease transmission.
A qualified team of veterinary pathologists, clinicians, and trained technicians performs necropsies and collects specimens for laboratory analysis, including microbiology, histopathology, parasitology, toxicology, and molecular diagnostics. Findings from postmortem examinations inform clinical decision-making, herd health management, and public health interventions, particularly in cases involving zoonotic diseases.
The Postmortem Section also serves as a core educational platform, providing veterinary students and postgraduate trainees with hands-on experience in necropsy techniques, lesion identification, diagnostic interpretation, and disease investigation. In addition, the section contributes to research, epidemiological surveillance, and the reporting of emerging and re-emerging animal diseases, supporting advancements in veterinary science and animal health.
Veterinary Necropsy Services
We provide comprehensive necropsy services to determine causes of death and investigate disease processes. These examinations offer critical insights into animal health, supporting clinical diagnoses, epidemiological studies, and herd health management programs.
Histopathology Services
Our histopathology services involve microscopic analysis of tissue samples collected during necropsy or biopsy. This allows for precise identification of pathological changes, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and informing treatment strategies and research projects.
Research and Case Studies
The Postmortem Section actively participates in research projects and case-based studies derived from necropsy findings. These activities advance understanding of veterinary diseases, promote evidence-based clinical practices, and contribute to the overall development of veterinary science.
