Short vita
Amal Abed PhD, is a Professor in the College of Architecture and Design at Jordan University of Science and Technology. Dr. Abed received her B.S. and M.Sc. degrees in Architecture from Jordan University of Science and Technology in 1999 and 2002 respectively. In 2006, she obtained a second M.Arch. in Architecture from Texas A & M University. Her Ph.D. work was in the area of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy from Texas Southern University, 2012.
Dr. Abed worked as an Assistant / Associate Professor at Applied Science University in Amman, Jordan from 2012 till 2019. In 2019 she joined Jordan University of Science and Technology as an Associate Professor in the College of Architecture and Design, , and she promoted to a Full Professor in 2024.
Dr. Abed had gained professional experience through Morris Architects, Houston-USA. Also, she is LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - Accredited Professional) certified by GBCI (Green Building Certification Institute), TX.
Her research interests are in the areas of Sustainable Development; Social Sustainability, Housing Neighborhood, Housing Enclaves, and Affordable Housing.
Prof. Abed aimed to utilize her background and skills in the academic and professional fields to enhance students develop design expertise within sustainable dimensions for built environment in general and housing setting in specific.
