The President of Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), Professor Khaled El-Salem, and the Mayor of Greater Irbid Municipality, Eng. Imad Al-Azzam, met to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions. The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design, and a delegation of engineers from Greater Irbid Municipality.

During the meeting, El-Salem reaffirmed the university's commitment to expanding its partnerships with national institutions, particularly Greater Irbid Municipality. He expressed the university's readiness to collaborate on the development of the Tall Irbid area, provide scientific and practical solutions to address the city's traffic challenges, and contribute to engineering studies and designs aimed at improving the road network. He also emphasized the university's willingness to leverage its academic, research, and technical expertise to support municipal initiatives and enhance the quality of services provided to the public.

El-Salem noted that engagement with local community institutions is a cornerstone of the university's mission. He said the university is prepared to formalize its collaboration with the municipality through a joint agreement that would define areas of cooperation and implementation mechanisms to achieve shared objectives.

He further highlighted the expertise of the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture and Design, noting their capacity to contribute to road planning and design, infrastructure development, and urban improvement projects that support the municipality's development agenda.

For his part, Al-Azzam commended the university's role in serving the local community and reaffirmed the municipality's commitment to strengthening cooperation with JUST. He stressed the importance of drawing on the university's academic and research expertise to implement development projects that benefit the city of Irbid.

He also underscored the value of partnering with the university in developing the Tall Irbid area and utilizing the expertise of its faculty members—particularly those in the Faculties of Engineering and Architecture and Design—to prepare engineering studies and designs that improve the road network and provide evidence-based solutions to the city's traffic challenges, in line with the municipality's development plans.

At the end of the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration between the university and the municipality by leveraging academic and engineering expertise to advance local development and improve the quality of services provided to the community.
