11 Students from Jordan University of Science and Technology Awarded Global Research Training Opportunity in Canada
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Azmi Mahafzah, patronized a meeting with students accepted into a training program in Canada. The event was organized by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship as part of the Youth, Technology& Jobs Project, and was attended by the President of Jordan University of Science and Technology, Professor Khaled El-Salem, along with several presidents of Jordanian universities. It was held at King Hussein Business Park.
In a notable achievement, 11 students from Jordan University of Science and Technology were selected to participate in the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) 2026, as part of a group of 29 students from various Jordanian universities announced during the event.
El-Salem stated that this accomplishment reflects the high academic standards of the university's students and their commitment to developing their skills and engaging in international experiences. He reaffirmed the university's dedication to supporting its students and providing a stimulating learning environment that fosters excellence and innovation.
He added that participation in this program offers a valuable opportunity to gain both practical and academic experience, as well as exposure to the latest developments in technology and innovation. This, in turn, helps prepare students to meet the demands of both local and global job markets.
The program is considered one of the leading international initiatives, enabling students to travel to Canada between May and October 2026. During this time, they will work alongside distinguished researchers and faculty members on applied research projects in fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, advanced energy, and health technologies.
The program is fully funded, covering travel, accommodation, and living expenses, in addition to offering professional development opportunities and networking with global academic and industry partners.
It aims to equip students with practical skills, strengthen their competencies, and provide international experience that enhances their personal and professional development, preparing them for careers in the digital and technology-driven economy.
