Jordan University of Science and Technology Holds a Specialized Workshop on Strategic Analysis and Futures Foresight
Jordan University of Science and Technology has launched a specialized two-day training workshop entitled “Strategic Analysis and Futures Foresight,” organized by the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality Assurance under the patronage of the University Vice President, Professor Muna Abu Dalo, with the participation of the working teams formed around the pillars of the University’s strategic plan. The workshop comes as part of the University’s ongoing efforts to develop its 2027–2031 Strategic Plan through a participatory and evidence-based approach that aligns with contemporary developments and draws on modern analytical and foresight tools.
During the opening of the workshop, Professor Muna Abu Dalo emphasized the significance of this stage in the development of the University’s new strategic plan, describing it as a key step in assessing the institution’s current position and anticipating future trends. She noted that this process would support the formulation of a realistic and implementable strategic plan grounded in a clear understanding of both the internal and external environments, while also responding effectively to emerging changes, challenges, and future opportunities.
She further stressed that the preparation of the University’s 2027–2031 Strategic Plan requires the collective efforts of all working teams and a collaborative spirit based on objective analysis and informed interpretation of available data. Such an approach, she explained, would help shape strategic directions capable of enhancing the University’s competitiveness and strengthening its ability to evolve and respond to future requirements.
For his part, the Dean of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Professor Maher Tadros, explained that the workshop forms part of a broader series of activities and specialized workshops organized by the Deanship to support the preparation of the University’s strategic plan. He added that the workshop also reflects the Deanship’s commitment to promoting modern strategic planning concepts and building the capacities of the relevant working teams in the use of analytical tools and scientific methodologies for strategic plan development.
The workshop covered several key themes, including an overview of the SWOT analysis framework, PESTEL analysis, and futures foresight concepts, as well as their role in supporting strategic decision-making. These topics were presented through both theoretical and practical sessions aimed at enabling the working teams to assess the University’s current reality and identify future opportunities and challenges. This, in turn, contributes to the development of a comprehensive strategic plan that reflects the University’s aspirations and future directions.
