Jordan University of Science and Technology Joins the Top 500 Universities in the World

In a distinguished and historic Jordanian achievement, Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) has entered the list of the top 500 universities in the world, ranking 461st globally according to the QS World University Rankings for 2026. This milestone reaffirms the university's status as a leading academic institution and strengthens Jordan's presence on the international higher education map.

This accomplishment marks a turning point in the university's journey, which spans less than four decades since its founding. JUST is now considered one of the youngest universities worldwide to achieve such an advanced ranking—an unmistakable indicator of the university's rapid progress in recent years.

In just four years, JUST has climbed over 500 positions, having previously been in the 800–1000 range, as a result of implementing a phased strategic plan focused on enhancing education quality, advancing scientific research, and activating international and community partnerships.

It is worth noting that this is the second time the university has officially entered the top 500 club, having previously done so in 2017 according to the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings, before later adopting the QS ranking, which aligns more closely with the university's priorities and development plans.

Commenting on this achievement, the university president, Professor Khalid Al-Salem, stated:

“What has been achieved is the result of a cumulative institutional effort involving all components of the university from faculty members and researchers to students and administrative staff who worked with dedication to raise academic and research performance. This progress confirms that ambition is not measured by the age of the institution, but by its will and capacity to learn and evolve."

Prof. Al-Salem added that the university will continue to invest in innovation, entrepreneurship, and scientific research, while expanding international collaboration and empowering youth to ensure sustained progress and global competitiveness.

This exceptional advancement reflects Jordan's commitment to enhancing the quality of higher education and developing youth capabilities, and it adds to a series of academic achievements realized with the support of the Hashemite leadership, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, may God protect them both.

Through this ranking, Jordan University of Science and Technology affirms that institutional youth is no barrier to ambition, and that collective determination and teamwork can elevate national universities to the ranks of global academic elites.
