As part of the National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture, the Ministry of Agriculture and Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) signed today, Sunday, an annex to their cooperation agreement in the field of veterinary services. The agreement aims to enhance joint efforts in improving animal health, reducing the risk of disease outbreaks, and organizing and supporting the livestock sector.

The agreement was signed by His Excellency the Minister of Agriculture, Engineer Khaled Hneifat, and the President of JUST, Professor Dr. Khaled Al-Salem, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Dr. Myasser Alekish.

The agreement stipulates that the Ministry and the University will collaborate in providing advanced diagnostic services to detect hard-to-diagnose diseases, implementing annual training programs for the Ministry's veterinarians, and training veterinary students in the Ministry's facilities.

Hneifat emphasized that this project aligns with the National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture and the Ministry's efforts to regulate and support the livestock sector by strengthening specialized veterinary expertise. The goal is to improve animal health, reduce disease risks, and enhance the skills of veterinary personnel in line with global technical standards. This annex was introduced to equip the educational veterinary hospital in the northern region to provide veterinary services and train veterinary students on the latest techniques and equipment.

Hneifat also noted that this hospital is part of a plan to establish three veterinary hospitals in the north, central, and southern regions of the kingdom to advance the agricultural sector.

For his part, Dr. Khaled Al-Salem expressed the university's pride in its partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, highlighting that this unprecedented collaboration reflects the university's vision of supporting national sectors through education and scientific research.

Dr. Al-Salem added that the agreement represents a strategic step in enhancing the university's role as a regional center of excellence in veterinary education and contributing to the development of the livestock sector. This effort supports sustainable development and aligns with the latest international standards.
