The Center for Sustainable Development and Technology Studies at the Jordan University of Science and Technology implemented a training workshop for active members of the local community in the building of Zaha Cultural Center in Irbid, entitled "Concepts of Community Accountability and Their Applications in the Health Sector," which comes as another activity within the first phase of the "Developing Strategies" project. "Effective social accountability for better health outcomes within Jordan" in the project "Enhancing community accountability and enabling civil society institutions to achieve good governance" which is implemented in cooperation with the Al-Hayat Center - Rased, as part of Nazaha project funded by the European Union and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. .
Professor. Ammar Al-Maaitah, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development Studies and Technology at the university, said that the idea of social accountability for institutions in general and for health institutions in particular does not necessarily have to be implemented as a result of shortcomings in the institution's performance, but rather its goal may be to enhance and develop performance. Adding that the aim of the workshop is to prepare individuals to be active elements in the accountability system and empower them to demand improvement of the services provided to them.
At the End of the workshop, Al-Maaita thanked those in charge of Zaha Cultural Center and handed over certificates to the participants.
