Jordan University of Science and Technology is officially a Cooperating Member of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)

Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) has been officially announced as a "Cooperating Member" of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva – Switzerland, as of January 2020. The General Assembly meeting of CERN in October 2019 approved an induction project, submitted by a research team from the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology at JUST; Drs. Zakarea Al Shara, Ahmed Shatnawi, and Mahmoud Al Shbool. The induction project in the fields of computing and information technology will benefit graduate students of JUST, who will take advantage of the huge data repository and resources of CERN, as well as undergraduate students taking part in the reputable international summer programs of CERN.

The agreement was duly signed by JUST President; Prof. Saeb Khreisat, and the Resources Manager at CERN; Mr. Andrzej Charkiewicz, in the presence of Prof. Ismail Hmeidi, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology, Dr. Abdallah Alzoubi, Director of the International Relations Office at JUST, and Mr. Martin Gastal, Experimental Area Manager at CERN.

The President of JUST acknowledged the research team for their incredible efforts in realizing the project, and the International Relations Office for recruiting the agreement. Prof. Khreisat stated that this cooperation will greatly impact our students' future perspectives, and indeed feeds into the vision of His Majesty King Abdulla II for a prominent and leading role of Jordan in the sustained development and technological advancement of the region.
