The Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering at JUST Earns the International European Accreditation (ASIIN)

The Bachelor's program of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Faculty of Science at JUST earned the full international certification of the European Accreditation (ASIIN). The certification was granted to the program for six years that end in Sept. 2024.

It should be noted that ASIIN is an internationally renowned accreditation and follows the European guidelines in accrediting various programs. ASIIN is highly recognized throughout the world and demands meeting high standards and passing a rigorous process that includes a detailed site visit by a team of international certified reviewers.

On this occasion, JUST president, Prof. Saeb Khresat, said that this accomplishment comes as part of the university's strategic plan in internationalization that involves the main feature of attaining prestigious international accreditations such as ASIIN. To this end, he added, JUST provides all needed support and incentives for all programs that seek such accreditation.

In response to this accreditation, the Dean of Faculty of Science and arts, Professor Qutaibah Khatatbeh, said that this accomplishment demonstrates that our faculty, staff and students are of high caliber hoping that this accreditation serves as an incentive for the other programs in the faculty to hasten their ongoing efforts to obtain international accreditation for their programs soon. On his part, the department chair Dr. Amjad Mahasneh and committee member further stated that this certification showcases our commitment to continuous quality improvement in the Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering program conforming to the international accreditation standards.

Finally, Professor Ziad Jaradat, the department accreditation committee chair and the liaison person with the ASIIN stated that this great accomplishment was the result of sincere and focused efforts by the department accreditation committee, faculty, staff, and students, as well as the department advisory board and alumni who sincerely supported this effort and helped come to this successful conclusion.

It is noteworthy that such achievements help JUST meet its aspiration as a world-class university, as well as advance even further in world university rankings and ratings noting that JUST is already eligible as a world-class university and enjoys advanced positions in these rankings and ratings.
