Workshop on Transferring to the specification of ISO 9001:2015


The president of Jordan University of Science and Technology Prof. Saeb Khreisat patronized the workshop that was organized by Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center (ADQAC) in the university last Thursday. The workshop was administrated by ENG. Muhannad Al-Kayed, LRQA Business Manager at Lloyd's Register office in Jordan. The aim of the workshop was to evaluate the documents that were prepared by the units/department/centers in the university which hold the ISO 9001:2008 certificate in order to transfer to the new specification of ISO 9001 (ISO 9001:2015). Prof. Khreisat in his speech at the opening ceremony of the workshop emphasized on the importance of adapting a quality management system based on the specification of ISO 9001 which guarantees the continuous improvement of the services delivered to the students and all the employees in the university as well. The workshop was attended by the vice-precedents: Prof. Osama Nusier, Prof. Khalid El-Salem, Prof. Serhan Haddad, and Prof. Mohammad Ibinni. Also, the workshop was attended by the deans and the directors and representative of the units/departments/centers who hold the ISO 9001 certificate.

 From his side, Prof. Mohamad Al-Widyan, the director of ADAQC presented the steps and efforts that was administrated by the ADQAC in cooperation with the directors and representatives of the units/department/centers in the university which hold the ISO 9001:2008 certificate. In the technical session of the workshop, ENG. Muhannad highlighted the issues that still make a gap between what has been done and what the ISO 9001:2015 specification require. At the end of the workshop, there were some recommendations in order to bridge the gap and complete the shortage in the documentations required to renew the ISO 9001:2015 certificate. The most important of these steps and procedures is to focus on applying the concepts of understanding the institutional context, such as identifying the internal and external issues related to the system, identifying the relevant parties and their administrative units, identifying their needs, integrating these concepts with the concepts of risks and opportunities and controlling the processes of the quality system. It was also emphasized that more participation and follow-up by the leaders of departments and administrative units concerned to ensure the development of the system to meet the trends of the top management, and help in dealing with the risks and opportunities faced by the University and its various departments, and covers all the needs of the parties concerned.
