Dr. Suhaila Al-Sheboul is The First Ambassador to The "American Society of Microbiology" In Jordan

The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) has appointed Dr. Suhaila Ali Nimer Al-Sheboul, a faculty member of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences from Jordan University of Science and Technology as its first ambassador to represent the American Society of Microbiology in Jordan. She was selected among 148 competitors based on her academic experience and leadership in Jordan and the United States of America.

Dr. AL-Sheboul said that the association aims to promote and support the development and progress of Microbiology field by providing services and activities related to this subject through its ambassadors. The selected ambassadors are the top scientists in the field of microbiology who represent the American Society of Microbiology in their country through Partnership and scientific exchange with other scientists around the world. She pointed out that there are currently 89 ambassadors globally  who represent their countries. She added that ASM, is one of the oldest and largest associations in the world of microbiology and the number of members of this association is more than 50,000, 50% of whom are from outside the United States.

Dr. Suhaila Shaboul is a molecular microbiologist at the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences / University of Science and Technology. She holds a BSc in Medical Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Science and Technology. She is the first student to receive the Fulbright Award toward Graduate studies from the University of Science and Technology, and earned her  Master's degree with honors specializing in Immunopathology from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, USA

Then she earned her  PhD in Molecular Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the same university (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the Medical College of Wisconsin) in the United States of America. After graduation she worked as an assistant professor at American universities in America for couple of years before returning home in 2009. Since 2009, she has taught a range of basic medical and specialty courses in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Laboratory Sciences at the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences.

Dr. Suhaila A-Sheboul is the Coordinator and the Official Representative of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences of the American Medical Technology Association (AMT) "at Jordan University of Science and Technology.

The Dean of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Mohammed Al-Jarrah, expressed his great pleasure in appointing and selecting Dr. Suhaila Al-Sheboul as a Microbiology Ambassador to the American Society of Science in Jordan, and that her representation in this field will have the greatest impact in this significant field. Through her position as Ambassador there will be many Scientific activities, workshops, conferences..etc that will be held with the participation of other Jordanian universities and she will have all the support of the College and the administration of the university to facilitate her mission as ambassador to the University and our dear homeland under the of Hashemite leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
