The HoverEye project, incubated at the Centre of Excellence for Innovative Projects, takes third place in the Arduino competition as part of IEEE RAS Day 2026

As part of its ongoing efforts to support innovation and technology, and to promote the presence of pioneering and innovative projects at specialized technical events and competitions, the Centre of Excellence for Innovative Projects at the Jordan University of Science and Technology took part in IEEE RAS Day 2026, which was held at the Amman Chamber of Industry on Monday 14 September 2026, under the theme 'Synergy in Innovation', organized by the IEEE RAS Jordan Section.

The Centre's participation came through the HoverEye project, one of the projects incubated at the Centre, which is dedicated to developing advanced solutions in the field of search and rescue using autonomous drones, artificial intelligence and computer vision technologies, with the aim of utilizing modern technologies to access dangerous or hard-to-reach areas and contribute to supporting search and rescue operations and emergency response.

The project is supervised by the Director of the Centre of Excellence for Innovative Projects, Dr. Ahmad Bani Younes, and, alongside him at the event, Project Manager Ayham Ibrahim, as well as team members Rayan Bani Younes, Momen Al-Jarrah and Rama Abdel Ghani. Team member Momen Al-Jarrah achieved an outstanding feat by securing third place in the Arduino competition, amidst a field of students, researchers, engineers and enthusiasts of technology and robotics from various universities and institutions.

The Centre's Director, Dr. Ahmad Bani Younes, emphasized that the participation of projects incubated at the Centre in such events forms an essential part of his strategy to support outstanding projects by providing a comprehensive environment for participation in specialized competitions and events. He pointed out that the true value of such participation is not limited to winning places and awards, but also lies in connecting them with experts, the industrial sector and potential partners, thereby enhancing the chances of projects progressing from prototypes to more advanced stages of development and implementation.

The Centre of Excellence for Innovative Projects continues to support promising technology projects, empower students and innovators, and foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, thereby contributing to the development of advanced technological solutions in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics and autonomous systems.
