Jordan University of Science and Technology Celebrates Flag Day; El-Salem: The Nation’s Flag Symbolizes Sovereignty and Unity

 The President of Jordan University of Science and Technology, Professor Khaled El-Salem, affirmed that National Flag Day is a unifying national occasion that reflects Jordanians’ cohesion and their collective commitment to the national flag. He noted that the day embodies a deep sense of belonging and highlights pride in a firmly rooted national identity.

His remarks came while patronizing a national ceremony organized by the university’s Deanship of Student Affairs, in cooperation with Jordan Armed Forces, marking Jordanian Flag Day, the founding of the Jordanian state, and the anniversary of the Battle of Karameh. The event was attended by the Director of Military Media at the Jordan Armed Forces, Brigadier General Mustafa Al-Hiyari, along with vice presidents, deans, faculty and administrative staff, and a large number of students.

El-Salem emphasized that celebrating national occasions is a vivid expression of Jordanian unity and a reminder of a distinguished history filled with sacrifice and achievement. He added that the Jordanian flag stands as a symbol of sovereignty and belonging, carrying a deeply rooted national legacy. He also praised the heroic role of Jordan Armed Forces as the nation’s protective shield, safeguarding its security and stability, and serving as a model of sacrifice and loyalty.

He further noted that the anniversary of the Battle of Karamehreflects the resilience of the Jordanian will and its ability to achieve success. He stressed that the university continues to contribute to the nation-building process by preparing qualified and aware graduates capable of leading the future with competence, while fostering values of belonging, diligence, and creativity among students—thereby enhancing Jordan’s standing and advancing its progress and prosperity.

In his remarks, Al-Hiyari stated that the Jordanian flag is not merely a symbol, but a representation of national sovereignty and a living embodiment of the state’s identity, history, and enduring values. He added that it unites Jordanians of all backgrounds under one banner, expressing unity and the strength of the home front.

The event also featured a photo exhibition showcasing the Hashemite legacy and the history of the Jordanian Arab Army, as well as a video presentation highlighting key milestones of achievement and development across various sectors of the Jordanian state.

The ceremony saw strong attendance and active engagement from students, in a patriotic atmosphere that reflected pride in the nation and its leadership, and reinforced values of belonging and loyalty among participants.​
