Student Research Club of Pharmacy Organizes Its First Research Camp
March 12 /// The Student Research Club of Pharmacy (SRCP) at Jordan University of Science and Technology, under the supervision of Dr. Israa Isawi and Dr. Tamam Elimat, and through the efforts of a distinguished student team led by Zeina Abu Moghli, Sara Al‑Zyout, and Ahmad Al-Matarneh, organized the first research camp of its kind for students of the Faculty of Pharmacy. The camp was attended by 35 male and female pharmacy students, as part of a high‑quality academic initiative aimed at promoting a culture of scientific research among students and strengthening its presence within the student academic environment, thereby contributing to the development of their research skills and preparing them to engage in impactful scientific projects.
The camp featured an intensive scientific and training program spanning five days, designed to build a solid knowledge base and methodological foundation in pharmaceutical scientific research. It included a series of training workshops and interactive sessions focusing on enhancing students’ skills in several key areas, most notably research ethics, formulation of research problems and questions, study design, the role of artificial intelligence in supporting scientific research, scientific writing skills, scientific interpretation and reasoning, as well as academic presentation and communication skills.
The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Professor Qosay Al-Balas, emphasized that the camp reflects the active role played by the Student Research Club of Pharmacy in promoting a culture of scientific research among students, empowering them academically and skill‑wise, and encouraging them to launch high‑quality research initiatives that contribute to serving the community and the healthcare sector.
The training workshops were delivered by a distinguished group of faculty members from the Faculty of Pharmacy, whose contributions enriched the scientific content and linked theoretical aspects with practical applications.
The camp concluded with a scientific competition titled “From Question to Methodology: A Mini Research Proposal.” Participating students worked in seven research teams to develop research questions and build scientifically sound proposals based on clear research methodologies, which they presented before a judging committee that provided valuable scientific feedback contributing to the development of the students’ research skills.
The competition resulted in a research team composed of Ali Bani Issa, Mayar Bani Hani, Abdulrahman Ababneh, Batool Jbeil, and Sura Massoud winning first place for their research entitled:
“The Association of Different Types of Statins with Alzheimer’s Disease Risk among Jordanian Patients.”
This camp reaffirms the active role undertaken by the Student Research Club of Pharmacy in promoting a culture of scientific research, empowering students academically and skillfully, and encouraging their engagement in high‑quality research initiatives that serve both the community and the healthcare sector.
