Partnership Between Jordan University of Science and Technology and the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Int@j) to Support the TechForward Initiative
Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) and the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Int@j) signed a cooperation agreement to facilitate and implement the TechForward initiative. This agreement aims to strengthen collaboration between higher education institutions and the ICT sector, contributing to aligning educational outcomes with labor market needs.
The agreement aims to involve university students in hands-on technical projects carried out in partnership with private-sector companies, under guidance from both academic staff and industry professionals. This model helps students build practical competencies and gain firsthand exposure to real workplace challenges.
The cooperation covers advancing students' technical and professional abilities, improving their teamwork and project management skills, and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship within the university environment.
Professor Dr. Muneer Bani Yassein, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology, emphasized that the agreement aligns with the university's direction toward promoting applied education and linking theoretical knowledge with practical implementation, thereby preparing graduates who are competent and ready to enter the job market.
Program Director Dr. Jaafar Shahabat stated that the university's involvement in the initiative marks an important step toward strengthening ties between academia and industry. He added that this collaboration helps prepare skilled technical graduates who can contribute to digital transformation efforts and support the growth of Jordan's knowledge economy.
The collaboration is expected to result in the launch of specialized workshops, implementation of joint projects, and engagement of expertise from the private technology sector, thereby strengthening integration between the academic and private sectors and supporting the development of an effective national Information and Communications Technology ecosystem.
