Jordan University of Science and Technology has launched a specialized training workshop titled “Strategic Planning," inaugurated by the University President, Professor Khaled El-Salem. The workshop was organized by the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality Assurance and attended by the University's Vice Presidents and College Deans, as part of the university's ongoing efforts to enhance institutional performance and promote excellence and sustainability.
In his opening remarks, Professor El-Salem emphasized that the strategic plan represents a cornerstone in the development of institutional performance and the enhancement of administrative efficiency. He noted that strategic planning is a vital tool for effectively directing resources and efforts toward achieving the university's goals with efficiency and effectiveness.
Prof. El-Salem stressed the importance of aligning the university's strategic plan with national priorities and the Economic Modernization Vision, in line with state objectives to support technical and applied disciplines, respond to the evolving needs of the labor market, and accelerate digital transformation in both education and administration. Such alignment, he added, strengthens the university's competitiveness and reinforces its developmental role.
He further explained that investing in the planning and administrative capacities of academic and supervisory leaders positively impacts institutional performance and improves the quality of services provided. This approach also contributes to fostering a culture of institutional work based on systematic planning and continuous evaluation, while highlighting the importance of active youth and women participation throughout all stages of strategic planning and implementation.
The University President also underscored the need for strategic plans to be linked to clear and well-defined projects, supported by measurable performance indicators within predetermined timeframes. He emphasized the importance of allocating adequate financial resources within the university's budget to ensure sustainability and achieve tangible, measurable outcomes.
For his part, the Dean of Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Professor Maher Tadros, stated that the workshop is part of the deanship's strategic plan aimed at spreading a culture of strategic planning and building the capacities of administrative leaders in developing strategic plans, monitoring their implementation, and assessing their impact in accordance with best practices and accredited standards in higher education institutions.
The workshop covered several key themes, including the fundamentals of strategic planning, internal and external environmental analysis, the formulation of strategic objectives and performance indicators, as well as monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. These topics were delivered through interactive training sessions and practical applications designed to enhance participants' applied understanding of strategic planning concepts and support the university's future directions.
