Jordan University of Science and Technology organizes the “Window on Respiratory Therapy" event
Jordan University of Science and Technology, represented by the Respiratory Therapy specialty at the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, organized an awareness event entitled “A Window on the Respiratory Therapy Specialization," under the patronage of the University President, Professor Khaled Al-Salem.
The event was attended by the two vice presidents of the university, Professor Bashir Khasawneh, and Professor Mona Abu Dalu, along with an elite group of faculty and administrative staff, and a group of health practitioners from the Ministry of Health, the Royal Medical Services, and King Abdullah University Hospital, in addition to a number of students from health faculties and their families.
In his speech during the opening of the event, Al-Salem stressed that the establishment of the respiratory therapy program at the university comes in line with the Kingdom's economic modernization vision, which seeks to improve human resources, develop health care, and enhance economic and social sustainability.
Adding that this program will contribute to reducing the economic cost resulting from respiratory diseases, and will support the development of national competencies with competitive capabilities at the international level, which constitutes an essential axis in the vision of economic modernization.
He pointed out that the program is a qualitative addition to the Jordanian health sector, and an important source of competencies capable of dealing with various medical cases that require specialized respiratory intervention, stressing that the university is continuing to strengthen its position as a center of excellence in medical education.
Khasawneh explained that the university's programs are based on a clear strategic vision and a firm commitment to providing qualitative education that keeps pace with the latest international standards, and responds flexibly and effectively to the requirements of the changing labor market at the local, regional and international levels, especially in the wake of the Corona pandemic and the urgent need it has created for qualified health personnel capable of facing the increasing challenges in the field of respiratory care.
For her part, Professor Nihaya Al-Sheyab, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, confirmed that the university was keen to design an integrated academic program in the field of respiratory therapy that keeps pace with the latest international academic standards and meets the needs of the advanced health sector.Noting that the program is distinguished by its advanced curricula that combine theoretical and practical aspects, within a stimulating educational environment that includes the latest laboratories and equipment, in addition to providing field training opportunities in an elite group of leading hospitals and medical centers in Jordan.
The event included a number of introductory sections, presentations in the fields of work of the respiratory therapist, an awareness exhibition, in addition to the launch of educational websites based on the work of the specialization students, in addition to an educational acting scene about the incorrect use of asthma inhalers.
During the event, the winning design for the Respiratory Therapy Program logo was announced, and the winning students were honored in appreciation of their creativity and outstanding efforts.
