Under
the patronage of Prof.Khaled El-Salem, President of Jordan University
of Science and Technology, the 12th International Medical Conference
launched Thursday evening at Irbid Cultural Center. Organized by Irbid
branch of Jordan Medical Association, the event brings together local,
Arab, and international participants under the theme "Healthcare and
Artificial Intelligence: Reality and Challenges."
In
his opening speech, Prof. El-Salem reaffirmed loyalty to His Majesty
King Abdullah II and praised his leadership in safeguarding Jordan's
security and sovereignty. He highlighted the significance of artificial
intelligence in modern medical advancements, stressing the need for
universities and medical institutions to equip healthcare professionals
with the tools and training to leverage these technologies effectively.
Prof.
E-Salem emphasized the responsibility to keep pace with rapid
scientific and technological developments, particularly in AI,
personalized medicine, and genetic engineering, which are
revolutionizing disease diagnosis and treatment for the benefit of
humanity.
Dr.
Rami Al-Omari, conference president, noted that the focus on AI's
potential in healthcare reflects the growing role of technology in
improving services and offering innovative solutions to medical
challenges. He welcomed the conference as a platform for global
knowledge exchange.
Dr.
Hassan Al-Balas, chair of the scientific committee, highlighted AI's
vital role in fields like radiology, aiding in the management of
healthcare centers and improving diagnostic accuracy. He reported that
234 scientific papers, including 12 posters, were accepted after
thorough review
Dr. Ziad Al-Zoubi,
President of Jordan Medical Association, commended the conference as an
important achievement forIrbid sub-committee and emphasized that AI has
become a critical tool in disease diagnosis, medical data analysis, and
improving healthcare quality.
The
conference also featured a workshop on "Basics of Handling Accidents"
in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, attended by 190 doctors.
The first day focused on the use of AI in disease diagnosis, with a
commemorative lecture by Senator Dr. Hayel Obaidat.
