Jordan University of Science and Technology highlights responsible practices in the use of medicines
Jordan University of Science and Technology, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Anesthesia Technology program, in collaboration with the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) organized a distinguished scientific event titled “Enhancing Comprehensive Understanding and Responsible Practices for Anesthesia Technology and Allied Medical Specialties Students in Handling Medications (Sedatives, Stimulants, and Narcotics)." The event aimed to enhance students' awareness of the safe and responsible use of medications while raising their understanding of the risks and safety measures involved in dealing with various pharmaceutical drugs, including sedatives, stimulants, and narcotics.
This event was held under the patronage of Professor Basheer Khassawneh, representing Professor Khalid Al-Salem, the University President, and with the support of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Nihaya Al-Sheyab, and in the presence of the Dean of Student Affairs, a number of faculty and administrative staff members, university students, and interested people from the local community.
Professor Al-Khassawneh said that this activity reflects the vision of the University of Science and Technology towards raising the scientific and applied level of its students in various specializations, especially in medical fields that require competence and responsibility, pointing out that dealing with sedative, stimulant and narcotic drugs is not just a technical aspect, but rather a professional and ethical integrity that requires The highest levels of caution and scientific knowledge, which is what we aim to consolidate through this meeting.
Professor Nihaya Al-Sheyab, Dean of Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, confirmed that, by organizing this event, the university is keen to keep pace with the latest scientific developments in the field of dealing with medicines, explaining that preparing specialized cadres capable of taking responsibility for dealing with medicines wisely and knowledgeably is an integral part of our mission. Educational and health care facilities in this academic edifice, and she added that in light of the rapid development witnessed in the field of health care, There is an increasing need to graduate specialists who possess the scientific competence and ethical awareness to deal with these drugs, whether in therapeutic use or in monitoring drugs and protecting society from their negative effects.
Dr. Mahmoud Altawalbih, the Coordinator of the Anesthesia Technology Program, affirmed that such scientific activities are essential in promoting evidence-based health practices and fostering collaboration between students and academic staff. He also noted that these initiatives contribute significantly to preparing students to be more competent and responsible in addressing challenges in the field, expressing pride in the students' outstanding performance during the event.
