*Jordan University of Science and Technology Launches Pharmaceutical and Biotechnological Manufacturing Program in Collaboration with Hikma Pharmaceuticals, Aligned with the Royal Vision for Economic Modernization*
In a significant step to strengthen academia-industry collaboration, Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) has announced the launch of a specialized program in pharmaceutical and biotechnological manufacturing. This initiative is part of the Royal Vision for Economic Modernization, which aims to build a robust and sustainable economy.
During the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding, JUST President, Prof. Khaled El-Salem, emphasized the importance of this partnership in preparing students for the workforce. He highlighted its role in enhancing their competitiveness both locally and globally. Prof. El-Salem described the agreement as a strategic step towards fostering applied education by offering students advanced practical skills that support the pharmaceutical industry, aligning with the objectives of the Royal Vision.
The memorandum of understanding outlines cooperation between the two parties through specialized academic programs, training initiatives, and the organization of scientific seminars and conferences designed to enrich students' knowledge and professional skills.
Mr. Hussein Arkhagha, Chief People Officer at Hikma Pharmaceuticals Group, commended JUST's status as one of the leading educational institutions in the region. He reiterated the company's commitment to supporting this collaboration, announcing that Hikma would provide tailored training programs to enhance students' capabilities and prepare them for the rapidly evolving pharmaceutical sector.
The event also included the inauguration of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Laboratory at the Faculty of Pharmacy, generously funded by Hikma Pharmaceuticals. The laboratory was officially opened by Ms. Hana Darwazah, Vice President for Corporate Social Responsibility at Hikma, followed by a presentation about the Faculty of Pharmacy delivered by its Dean, Prof. Qosay Al-Balas.
This partnership represents a shared vision between JUST and Hikma Pharmaceuticals to enhance private-sector collaboration, support the national economy, and advance the pharmaceutical industry. It aligns with the Royal Vision for Economic Modernization, which seeks sustainable development through effective strategic partnerships.
The ceremony was attended by Prof. Basheer Khasawneh, JUST Vice President, Prof. Qosay Al-Balas, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Prof. Ammar Al-Maaytah, Dean of Academic Development and Quality Assurance. Also in attendance were former deans, faculty, and administrative staff. Hikma Pharmaceuticals was represented by Mr. Amr Mugharbel, Executive Vice President for Human Resources at Hikma Group, alongside prominent figures such as Mr. Mohammed Al-Majali, Mr. Waseem Al-Khuffash, Mr. Omar Saqfelheit, Ms. Hadeel Khreisat, and Ms. Farah Al-Asali.
