On Sunday, October 26, 2025, students from the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology at Jordan University of Science and Technology won the Community Impact Award at the Mafraq Artificial Intelligence Hackathon.
The winning team included Raghad Al-Sharouna (Artificial Intelligence), Bushra Thiba (Software Engineering), Yasmine Abu Zeid (Cybersecurity), and Marah Al-Omari (Computer Science). They won for their innovative project, the “Digital Assessment System,” after competing fiercely with over 100 teams from various universities and schools. Only 45 teams qualified for the final stage.
Mr. Wael Talilan, Director of Administrative Services at the Center of Excellence for Creative Projects, attended the award ceremony, which was organized by the Jordanian Engineers Association — Mafraq Branch under the patronage of the Governor of Mafraq and in cooperation with the Afaq Technology team and the Provincial Council.
The students' participation is part of the university's efforts to promote digital innovation, empower young people, and encourage them to develop innovative technological solutions that benefit the community and promote national development.
