05 Jul 2026

Rawan Al-Samadi, a student on the Data Science track of the Department of Computer Information Systems at Jordan University of Science and Technology, achieved a remarkable accomplishment after participating in the TechBridge 2026 Hackathon. This event was held in the capital, Amman, and was jointly organised by Microsoft, FINOMENA, and LTUC. Teams and students from universities in Jordan and Palestine took part.

Her team won the Business Innovation Award for AgriLink, an innovative smart agriculture platform and trusted organic product marketplace which uses artificial intelligence technologies to support farmers and improve agricultural production quality.

Rawan contributed to the project's technical aspects, developing the backend using FastAPI and building a microservice comprising nine API endpoints to run a suite of AI services on Microsoft Azure. These services included price analysis, plant disease diagnosis and recommendations for organic treatments, as well as integrating Azure Speech and Azure Maps services.

This achievement reflects the level of excellence attained by students in the Department of Computer Information Systems and their ability to compete in technical and creative forums. It also demonstrates their ability to represent the university honourably at both the local and regional levels.

Congratulations to Rawan Al-Samadi, and we wish her and all the department's students continued success and prosperity.
