The Office of International Relations at the Jordan University of Science and Technology announces the availability of academic exchange opportunities for undergraduate students to study at Oakland University in the United States for one or two semesters during the 2026–2027 academic year, as part of the American Semester Abroad Program (ASAP).
This program aims to provide university students with the opportunity to gain international academic experience and exposure to a distinguished educational and research environment, thereby contributing to the development of their academic and professional skills.
I. Announcement and Application Period
- Application Start Date: March 11, 2026
- Application Deadline: March 28, 2026
Preliminary selection results will be announced no less than one month after the application period ends, and only selected students will be contacted via their university email.
Final acceptance will be issued after the partner university completes its selection process.
Second: Study Period
Students may participate in the program during one of the following periods of the 2026–2027 academic year:
- Fall Semester: August to December
- Winter Semester: January to April
- Summer Semester: May to August
Third: Available Majors
Students majoring in the following fields may apply for this opportunity:
- Computer Science
- Computer Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
Fourth: Application Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- The student must have completed at least 36 credit hours.
- The cumulative GPA must be no less than 3.00.
- The student must have a certificate of English proficiency based on one of the following tests:
- TOEFL iBT: 79
- TOEFL Paper-Based: 550
- TOEFL Computer-Based
- IELTS: 6.5
- PTE Academic: 53
- Duolingo: 105
- The highest TOEFL score (MyBest TOEFL) may be used, if available.
V. Required Documents
Students wishing to apply must submit the following documents through Student Services, the Academic Mobility System:
- Proof of English proficiency
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Application form approved by the department chair
Sixth: Tuition Fees (Estimated)
Admitted students pay tuition fees at Oakland University according to the rates applicable to Michigan residents.
The approximate cost of studying 12 credit hours at the undergraduate level is approximately $7,315; fees may vary depending on the nature and academic level of the courses.
The program also allows students to take certain advanced courses (Cross-Listed Courses) that can later be counted toward a master’s degree at the partner university.
VII. Approximate Living Costs
- Cost of housing and living expenses for one semester: approximately $5,100
- Health insurance for the semester: approximately $1,564
- The partner university may assist students in securing on-campus housing if available.
The student is responsible for the following costs:
- Travel
- Visa
- Other personal expenses
Neither the Jordan University of Science and Technology nor the partner university will cover any financial expenses.
Eighth: Number of Credit Hours
Students may enroll in:
- Minimum: 12 credit hours
- Maximum: 16 credit hours per semester
Where 3 credit hours at OU are equivalent to 3 credit hours at JUST, and approval from the academic department chair for the courses is required prior to registration.
Ninth: U.S. Entry Visa
Obtaining a visa is the student’s responsibility and requires:
- A letter of acceptance from the partner university
- Form I-20 for international students
- Application for an F-1 student visa
Matters related to obtaining a travel visa are handled exclusively by the U.S. Embassy; the university has no involvement in this process.
