Welcome to Our Newest Faculty Member, Dr. Kawthar Alzarieni!
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kawthar Alzarieni to our faculty! Dr. Alzarieni obtained her B.Sc. degree in Pharmacy in 2012 and received her M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Technology from the Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2016. She then pursued a PhD in Analytical Chemistry at Purdue University and defended her thesis in 2021. Her research was focused on the development of high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry methods for the determination of the chemical composition of complex mixtures, including crude oil, for the fast identification of functional groups in unknown drug metabolites in complex mixtures, and for the online detection of short-lived reaction intermediates in solution. Dr. Alzarieni's accomplishments at Purdue University included eight publications, and two awards: particularly, The Guy Melon Award; given to graduate students who demonstrate impressive research work and The Arthur Kelly Award; given to outstanding undergraduate teachers at Purdue University. She has recently begun her independent professional career at The Jordan University of Science and Technology as an assistant professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy.
