In line with the strategic plan of Jordan University of Science and Technology and the executive plan of the Faculty of Nursing, and under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Prof. Dr. Nihaya Al-Shayyab, an awareness event entitled: “Understanding the Risks of Children’s Exposure to Smoking and Effective Prevention Initiatives” was launched.

The event was prepared by Faculty of Nursing students as part of the Child Health Nursing course, under the supervision of Dr. Reem Ali. The event lasted for two days and was conducted in collaboration with the Smoking Cessation Clinic, reflecting the Faculty of Nursing’s educational and awareness mission and its leading role in promoting community health and spreading health awareness.

The event aimed to highlight the risks of smoking through scientific and interactive activities focusing on passive smoking and its health, psychological, and behavioral effects on children. In addition, several activities were presented that addressed effective prevention strategies, enhanced knowledge about the dangers of smoking to children’s health, and emphasized the importance of prevention.

The open day was attended by faculty members from the Faculty of Nursing, students from various university faculties, and university staff.
