Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences organized a field visit to the National Blood Bank of Al-Bashir Hospital in Amman within the framework of enhancing the applied aspect of academic knowledge acquired by students of the Department of Laboratory Medical Sciences at Jordan University of Science and Technology. The visit aimed to familiarize students with the laboratory and procedural processes related to collecting, examining, and preserving blood and its derivatives, in addition to understanding the mechanisms for ensuring the safety of blood before transporting it to patients in need.
The program began with an introductory session presented by a blood bank specialist, where the importance of blood banks and their vital role in saving lives was explained. The quality and safety standards adopted to ensure safe blood transfusion free of infectious diseases were also discussed. This was followed by a visit to the bank's departments, and the students were given the opportunity to watch some examinations.
