AMT Recognizes JUST Medical laboratory Sciences Program via School Recognition Program
23rd November 2015 – Dubai – American Medical Technologists (AMT) – an acclaimed certification agency both in the USA and internationally and partner of Medogy – has recently recognized Jordan University for Science and Technology (JUST) through its School Recognition Program (SRP), which is a formal affiliation indicating the likelihood of JUST graduates to qualify for sitting one or more AMT exams.

This affiliation is likely to promote close collaboration between the two institutions, in an effort to better serve the JUST student body; specifically those enrolled in the university’s Medical Laboratory Sciences department. It is also consistent with the efforts undertaken by JUST towards internationalizing its education and forging partnerships with various global associations, institutions and universities, and may pave the way for similar higher education institutions in the MENA region to follow suit.

According to Professor Yousef Khader – Dean of Applied Medical Sciences at JUST – “AMT is one of only a handful of organizations to be accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and caters to a variety of allied health areas including laboratory, medical and dental office and health education – among others.”

According to Mr. Christopher Damon – Executive Director of AMT -  “I am pleased to welcome JUST to the community of over 750 other academic training programs who have teamed with AMT to promote the concept of allied health certification to their students and graduates.  In addition to understanding the importance of a professional credential, the decision by JUST’s leadership to enter into this relationship with AMT demonstrates a commitment to certification by an organization governed and guided by the profession itself – AMT is constituted by, for, and of fellow allied health professionals and medical technologists.”

Considered one of the oldest and most advanced educational institutes in Jordan, JUST offers undergraduate and graduate programs in selected fields, with a very career-oriented focus. It was established in 1986 with the objective of graduating specialized professionals in various disciplines. JUST is currently ranked as the top research university in Jordan and its programs are constantly reviewed to ensure that students are equipped with the most advanced skills available.

Addressing this recent recognition, Mr. Issam Marzouqa – Founding Partner and CEO at Medogy – stated that, “Studies have consistently shown that individuals who are certified in their field receive higher salaries and enjoy better promotion opportunities, relative to their non-certified counterparts.”

Also worth noting is that AMT’s comprehensive exam – which JUST graduates are likely to be qualified to sit – is approved in all but one licensure state in the US, making it a wise choice if graduates are planning to work there.  Individuals obtaining this certification and want to work in the US will additionally need to obtain evaluation of their transcripts by a foreign evaluation service.  Many licensure states will not accept international certification exams which don’t include questions relevant to the US market.  The certification will also assist graduates to apply for work in Jordan and elsewhere in the MENA region.
