The participation of the Optometry Division at the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences in the activities of the Sixth Jordanian-Palestinian Optometry Conference JOPAL 2022

A group of faculty members in the field of optometry at the faculty of Applied Medical Sciences recently participated in the activities of the Sixth Jordanian-Palestinian Optometry Conference and Exhibition, which was held between 12th and 13th  May 2022 in Amman / Jordan. This event was organized in cooperation with the Jordanian Syndicate of Optometrists, the Palestinian Syndicate of Optometrists and the Jordanian Society of Optometrists.

The conference was attended by more than 300 academics, professionals and students from Jordan and Palestine. The participation of the Optometry Division/Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences represented by presenting scientific lectures and research papers, where Dr. Areej Okasha from the  Optometry Division presented a scientific paper entitled
The scope of optometry practice in Jordan 

Dr. May Bakkar from the Optometry Division also organized a special session to introduce the attendees to the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (IACLE)
Where the objectives and strategic plans of the Association were presented, the advantages of joining the Association, the importance of unifying teaching curriculum for the specialty of contact lenses in the Arab world, and the importance of educating the community about the safe use of contact lenses.
The IACLE event was followed by a presentation of a scientific paper presented by Dr. Mera Haddad entitled
“Perceptions toward the potential barriers to soft contact lens wear among university students in Jordan
And another scientific paper by Dr. May Bakkar entitled
“Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) as a complication during contact lens wear”

The conference activities were closed by honoring the lecturers and handing them certificates of appreciation for their efforts to make the conference a success.
