February 9 /// Within the framework of the national plan for sustainable agriculture, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Jordan University of Science and Technology signed, on Sunday, an annex to a cooperation agreement in the field of veterinary services, to enhance joint efforts in improving animal health, reducing the risks of the spread of diseases, and regulating and supporting the livestock sector.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency the Minister of Agriculture, Engineer Khaled Al-Hunaifat, and the President of the University of Science and Technology, Professor Dr. Khaled Al-Salem, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Dr. Maysar Al-Aksh.
The agreement stipulates that the Ministry and the University will cooperate to provide advanced diagnostic services to monitor diseases that are difficult to diagnose, in addition to implementing annual training programs for veterinarians affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture, and training students of the College of Veterinary Medicine in facilities affiliated with the Ministry.
Al-Hunaifat stressed that this project comes based on the national plan for sustainable agriculture and the Ministry’s endeavor to organize and support the livestock sector by enhancing specialized veterinary expertise with the aim of improving Animal health and reducing the risk of the spread of diseases. Based on the Ministry’s belief in the importance of developing veterinary cadres and raising their efficiency in line with international technical standards, this annex came to equip the veterinary teaching hospital in the northern region with the aim of providing veterinary services in the region and training students of the College of Veterinary Medicine on the latest technologies and devices.
Al-Hunaifat pointed out that this hospital comes within a plan to establish three veterinary hospitals in the north, center and south of the Kingdom to advance the agricultural sector.
For his part, Dr. Khaled Al-Salem expressed the university’s pride in the partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, noting that this unprecedented cooperation reflects the university’s vision of supporting national sectors through education and scientific research.
Dr. Al-Salem added that the agreement represents a strategic step to enhance the university’s role as a regional center for excellence in veterinary education, and to contribute to the development of the livestock sector, in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development and keeping pace with the latest international standards.
