The Water Diplomacy Centre participated in the launch of the joint research project between the Jordanian University of Science and Technology and the German-Jordanian University, entitled "The Basalt Transboundary Blue Basin." The event lasted for three days at the Dead Sea Hilton Hotel, with the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, researchers, academics, and representatives from the ministries of water and agriculture of partner countries. Additionally, representatives from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
Dr. Majid Abu Zrieg, the Director of the Water Diplomacy Centre, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of cooperation to enhance water diplomacy capabilities in the region. He highlighted the significance of the project in effective water management across the Azraq Basalt Aquifer.
Dr. Mutwakil Obaidat, the project's research lead, spoke about the importance of research cooperation in achieving the project's objectives to promote peace and cooperation in the region.
This project is part of the Blue Peace Middle East Capacity Development Project funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
