A high-profile delegation from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) visited the Water Diplomacy Center (WDC) at Jordan University of Science and Technology. The delegation, led by Mr. Simon Zbinden, Head of the Global Water Section at SDC, along with Ms. Semoroz Nathalie, Senior Water/Policy Advisor, and Mr. Mufleh Alalaween, Water Cooperation Advisor, engaged in pivotal discussions centered around the Progress, Challenges, and Collaborative Discussions regarding the Blue Peace Middle East (BPME) Capacity Development project.
During their visit, the esteemed delegation had the opportunity to tour around the facilities at the Water Diplomacy Center, gaining insights into the center's innovative infrastructure. Moreover, meaningful dialogues were held between the SDC delegates and the dedicated WDC team, exploring crucial discussion points including the progress assessment of the WDC, challenges faced (PRA), work plan evaluation, and identified support requirements for the ongoing project.
Dr. Majed Abu Zreig, the Director of the Water Diplomacy Center, presented an overview of the remarkable achievements, shedding light on the project status between WDC and SDC. Ms. Fawzia Ammoura, Assistant to the Project Director, presented the media campaign considered in the project, showcasing statistics and illustrating that all activities align with the Blue Peace Middle East Initiative. The engagement also extended to a meeting with the University President and Vice President, emphasizing the collaborative spirit and commitment to fostering water diplomacy and sustainable development in the region.
The discussions during this visit mark a pivotal step towards furthering the objectives of the BPME Capacity Development project and reinforcing the collaborative efforts between SDC and the Water Diplomacy Center, setting a promising trajectory for future endeavors in water diplomacy.
