"Partnership for Water Diplomacy: Stockholm International Water Institute and Water Diplomacy Center Join Forces for Capacity Building and Research."
On Monday, May 1st, 2023 - In line with the goals of the Strategic Plan of the Diplomatic Water Center for the years 2022-2026, and with the Center's commitment to increasing the University's contribution to serving the community and the environment, building effective partnerships with all institutions and segments of society, and strengthening relations and building partnerships with external parties - a delegation from the Stockholm International Water Institute, including Mr. Alejandro Jimenez, Director of the Water and Sanitation (WASH) Department, and Ms. Manal Sharaideh, Program Coordinator for the Middle East, visited the Diplomatic Water Center. They were received by Dr. Majid Abu Zareig, the Director of the Center, and during the meeting, ways of cooperation and partnership within the capacity-building project supported by the Swiss Agency were discussed. An agreement was signed for cooperation in the field of research, education, and implementation of joint projects between the two parties.
It is worth noting that the Stockholm International Water Institute is a specialized institute in generating knowledge, directing the decision-making process, and is based in Sweden. It was founded in 1991 and conducts research, institutional capacity building, and provides consultancy services in five areas, including water management, transboundary water management, climate change, the nexus between energy, water, and food, and water economics.
