JUST Participates in the EDRAAK  International  Conference " Innovative Vision for Education in Arab Region"

A  two-day conference , titled "Reimagining Education in the Arab World", organized by EDRAAK, the first non-profit Arab Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform launched by the Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development on Sunday .

The conference  was held under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania.It aims at showcasing global, regional and local experiences in developing educational programmes that benefit from technological advancements, such as open and online education.

HE Prof. Adel Altwasi , Minister of Higher Education and Scientific  Research , deputizing for Her Majesty Queen Rania, officially launched the conference activities which aim at presenting participants with innovative models that leverage technology to overcome some of the key challenges in the Arab world . It focuses on the role of digital learning in developing educational tools. 

During the conference opening ceremony , JUST  President,  Prof. Omar Al-Jarrah presented the university's continuous efforts in  employing  technology in education, Technology is  now being widely used in the classroom to enhance and enrich teaching and learning. . In 1999, the webct e-learning platform for e-learning and exams has been adopted by JUST .In 2001, the e-learning platform was adopted at the university as an open source platform. In 2007, a special system was developed at the university for electronic exams and electronic evaluation. Al-Jarrah added that the university has 2,200 courses serving about 19,000 students, emphasizing that  1276 online examinations are conducted annually involving  17 thousand students.

The conference was attended by more than 200 participants from 50 countries gathered to exchange their views and ideas on ways to advocate for an innovative education system that promotes diversity, creativity and entrepreneurship.
