The Center of Excellence for Innovative Projects presents a webinar entitled: Ways of Enhancing Employment Opportunities for Graduates of the College of Computer and Information Technology from an Academic and Professional Perspective
As part of its activities related to the "ELEGANT" project, the Center of Excellence for Creative Enterprises / Jordan University of Science and Technology held on December 11, an electronic seminar entitled "Ways of Enhancing Employment Opportunities for Graduates of the College of Computer and Information Technology from an Academic and Professional Perspective".
Samer Suleiman, the project's liaison officer, initiated the seminar aimed at enhancing employment opportunities for information technology graduates in Jordan, by introducing and welcoming the participants, including faculty members and workers in this field, and current university graduates and students.
Where Dr. Hashi Iraj, a member of the project's steering committee, reviewed the basic idea of the ELEGANT project, explaining its main objectives and its importance for students, educational institutions and various companies.
In his speech, Dr. Muhannad Al-Jarrah, Director of the Center of Excellence for Creative Projects, also pointed out the importance of linking academic institutions and the business sector and the need to coordinate cooperation between the two parties in order to narrow the gap between the needs of the labor market and the outputs of university education and the role of the Center of Excellence for Creative Projects in this path. This helps in achieving the main objective of the project.
The symposium dealt with the academic aspect of the employment issue, highlighting the importance of developing curricula and strengthening efforts to achieve program accreditation, provide training opportunities, and link between the academic program and the labor market.
The symposium also discussed the practical side of the issue of linking education outcomes with the needs of the labor market, stressing the importance of individual skills and creative thinking in increasing job opportunities. She encouraged students to use the knowledge gained through academic study in creating job opportunities through entrepreneurship and building small businesses.
Jordan University of Science and Technology graduates also shared their academic and professional experiences and emphasized the importance of self-development skills such as competitive programming, cybersecurity, teamwork, research-based work, and analytical skills in the highly competitive labor market.
The symposium concluded with a brainstorming segment in which the students shared their opinions and suggestions on ways to enhance job opportunities in the near future.
