The Center of Excellence for Innovative Projects at the Jordan University of Science and Technology holds a panel discussion entitled ‘Beyond Solutions: Design, Innovation, Meaning, and Artificial Intelligence’
The Center of Excellence for Innovative Projects at the Jordan University of Science and Technology held a panel discussion entitled (Beyond Solutions: Design, Innovation, Meaning, and Artificial Intelligence), aimed at fourth-year students in the Department of Design and Visual Communication at the University's Faculty of Architecture and Design. The seminar was hosted by Mr. Marcello Magalhaes from the United States, a PhD researcher at the Institute of Design at Illinois Tech, and CEO of Speakeasy, a platform specializing in innovation consultancy. He gave a presentation addressing the changing role of design in the age of artificial intelligence, and the importance of moving from the concept of providing direct solutions to understanding meaning, human experience, and the cultural and ethical contexts associated with modern technologies.
On the sidelines of the seminar, Dr. Ahmad Bani Younes, Director of the Center of Excellence for Innovative Projects, welcomed the speaker, emphasizing the importance of hosting international experts who enrich students' knowledge and broaden their horizons regarding the latest global trends in the fields of design, innovation and technology. He also noted that organizing such events aligns with the Center's mission to support creativity and innovation and empower young people to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the demands of the future.
The seminar, attended by the Center's Deputy Director, Dr. Deaa Bataineh, discussed a number of key topics, most notably the relationship between design thinking and artificial intelligence, the role of designers in developing meaningful technological experiences, and the connection between visual communication and emerging smart systems, alongside the future responsibilities of designers in the face of rapid technological transformations.
