As part of its activities under the umbrella of the EU-funded ELEGANT project, which aims at providing the graduates of the College of Computer and Information Technology with enhanced work opportunities, The Center of Excellence for Innovative Projects cooperated with Globitel, a leading company in the field of communication and software development, in holding an online seminar entitled "The Guide to Getting Your First Job" on Thursday, 8th April 2021.
Mr. Samer Suleiman from CEIP, liaison officer of the ELEGANT project, welcomed the students and the colleagues from Globitel company and informed them about the project's aims. He also explained the role CEIP plays in enhancing the job opportunities for the graduates of the College of Computer and Information Technology at Jordan University of Science and Technology.
Mrs. Heba Hashmi, a part of the human resources department at Globitel, welcomed the participants and provided them with an overview of the company and its activities in Jordan and the region.
Mr. Mohammad Faraj, an engineer at the company's technical management department, talked about the essential skills students must have in order to be qualified to work or train at Globitel or any other information technology company. Moreover, he shed light on the importance of scientific education students gain while studying at the university.
Mrs. Heba Hashmi advised the participants on the best ways to prepare for getting a job, like writing a professional resume, making a personal electronic portfolio, and preparing for a job interview.
At the end of the workshop, Mr. Mohammed and Mrs. Heba answered the students' questions regarding the companies work, the available work and training opportunities, and the application method.
The workshop was attended by 80 students from the College of Computer and Information Technology.
