JUST library circulation policies are designed to permit prompt and equitable access to library materials. The staff at circulation service desks are focused on meeting the research needs of the library's readers.
Circulation privileges are automatically accorded to those holding valid JUST photo identification cards with a current validation sticker. A JUST photo ID must be presented on request in order to use the Library's facilities and collections.
Loan periods and policies vary among libraries and types of materials, so it is important to check due dates and times marked on materials. The staff at the circulation desk in each JUST library can explain specific borrowing guidelines and fine policies or you can visit their Web pages to learn more.
Periodicals staff provide assistance locating journal, magazine and newspaper titles in the collection and help using equipment in the Periodicals area.
The Periodicals Help Desk, located in the Current Issues area on the ground floor, is staffed during most hours when the University Library is open. For telephone inquiries ( Ext. 23663 , 23723 ).
The Reference Services Program of the JUST University Library makes available to all members of the JUST community and, to a lesser extent, to all readers, the research and subject expertise of JUST's public services librarians, subject specialists, and archivists.
The primary purpose of the program is to guide students, faculty, staff, and researchers at point of need to resources that accelerate the process of identifying and retrieving information for research, study, or personal use.
In select locations throughout the JUST University Library, reference staff are available to help readers:
answer specific informational questions.
JUST Library maintains print course reserves. All reserve items are listed in the online catalog and can be searched by Instructor or class.
Print Reserves:
Print reserves are held at the Reference Desk and are organized by Call Number. Patrons are asked to provide Reserve staff with Reserve Call Numbers when requesting materials. Loan periods are determined by library, and can vary from 2-hour Library Use only to 1 Day check out. Overnight check-outs must to be returned within one hour of the library opening the day the item is due.
Fines for overdue reserves are 10 percent for each hour.
Requesting Course Reserves :
Instructors may request that items be placed on Course Reserve by submitting a Reserve Request form, available at the Reference Desk. Before the material will be used for class. Instructors may place items from the University Library's collection or their own personal items on reserve. However, materials owned by another library may not be placed on reserve. Instructors are encouraged to place no more than two copies of any item on print reserve.
All items are removed from reserve and all personal items returned at the end of every semester. If items need to be kept on Reserve for multiple semesters, please be sure to note this on the reserve request form.
Due to Copyright concerns only one article from a book or journal issue may be on e-reserve at a time. Material which violates any of these guidelines will not knowingly be made available.
