Course Description

This course is divided into a theoretical and pre-clinical component. The theoretical component is designed to introduce students to the scope of paediatric dentistry. The lectures cover basic topics in pediatric dentistry including clinical examination, diagnosis and treatment planning of dental problems in children, common oral problems in children and theories of occlusal development, restorative treatment in children and pulp therapy.

Topics that will be covered in the pre-clinical component include: patient examination, radiographic assessment and treatment planning, record keeping, aspects of restorative dentistry in primary teeth, pulp therapy in primary teeth
