The component aims to give the student an overall view of the role and work of the Occupational
therapist and the OT department. The students will become more aware of the role and contribution of
the other professions in the treatment team, and it is hoped to instill in the students early on in the
course of studies, a sense of belonging to, and participation in, the multidisciplinary team. The
component will also enable the student to know the basics of dealing with emergencies, both in the
department and elsewhere.
