Course Description

Recent advances in the laboratory diagnosis of endocrine diseases as well as discussion of topics related to drug monitoring. The course begins with some basic definitions, hormone chemistry, and mechanisms of control and action, then discusses methods for measuring hormones and describes the individual glands or components of the endocrine system. The course discusses therapeutic drug monitoring (analysis, assessment and evaluation of the circulating concentration of a drug) and the factors that influence the circulating concentration of a drug(e.g. : route of absorption, distribution, etc.). Couse also is designed to develop student’s proficiency in interpreting results of hormonal dysfunction and to describe the major toxicity of each of the presented drugs.
